Aqui vuelvo con mi último experimento, digamos que es un troll. Estaba basado en un dibujo mio que realmente no era exactamente así, pero conforme modelaba evolucionó hacia un personaje más propio de Brian Froud.

I come back with my latest experiment, we can say that it´s a troll. It was based in a drawing of mine, that really it wasn't exactly like that, but while I was modeling evolved into a more typical character of Brian Froud.
No sé, a mi me gusta.

Hola, sigo con mis experimentos, rebuscando entre los dibujos surgidos en el transcurso de algún interminable sermón de alguno de mis muchos jefes, me encontré con un personajillo estilo Doctor Watson.

Ya estamos llegando a la recta final, ha quedado un poco amorfo pero el próximo espero hacerlo mejor.

Le he terminado los brazos y le he puesto un gorro de granadero. Ahora creo que le voy a añadir unas charreteras propias de los granaderos y el resto de detalles se los hare con epoxi.

Tutorial: Haciendo Barbas / Making Beards

Vamos a trabajar con una mezcla de Super Sculpey Original y Super Sculpey Firm.

We are going to work with a mixture of Super Sculpey Original and Super Sculpey Firm

He preparado este "dummy" para hacer el tutorial, le he añadido lo básico para que sirva de referencia al hacer la barba. Le he puesto una gran "tocha" porque representa un enano, más o menos.

I have prepared this "dummy" to the tutorial, I've added the basics to serve as a reference to make the beard. I added him a big nose because it represents a dwarf, more or less.

Lo primero de todo es hacer una serie de tiritas de masilla, de distintos grosores y tamaños, el número dependera del tipo de barba que queramos modelar, de todas formas iremos haciendo más según nos lo pida el modelo.

Retorcemos con cuidado las tiras intentando que tengan distintas formas.

Comenzamos añadiendo las más grandes, serán la base de la barba. He usado dos tipos de herramientas, una de goma y otra de metal. Como hemos retorcido las tiras ya tienen una forma irregular y ondulada, en la medida de lo posible le añadiremos más ondas a la vez que vamos colocando las tiras.

We started adding the larger ones, they will be the basis of the beard. I have used two types of tools, one of rubber and other of metal. As we have wringed the strips they already have an irregular and wavy shape, as far as possible we will add more waves while we place the strips.

 

Añadimos el resto de churritos que harán la base de la barba.

We add the rest of stripes those will make the basis of beard.

Intentamos ondular el pelo, bueno nuestras tiras de masilla, presionado, con una herramienta preferiblemente redondeada, en un sentido y en otro. Esto es un cuestión de práctica.

We try to wave the hair, well our putty strips, pressed, preferably with a rounded tool, in one sense and another. This is a matter of practice.

Ahora le damos un poco de forma a la barba, sin preocuparnos mucho porque la mayos parte de esto quedará oculta más tarde. Rebajamos las zonas donde se une a la carne y hacemos hendiduras de diferentes profundidades en las tiras, siguiendo la forma de estas.

Now we give some shape to the beard, without worrying much of this because most will be hidden later. We smooth the areas where it attaches to the flesh and make grooves of different depths along the strips, following the shape of these.

Añadimos un nuevo juego de tirillas, los colocamos en los huecos existentes entre las primeras tiras intentado dar volumén a la barba. Empiezo presionando con un pincel para no deformar demasiado las tiras, estas se irán metiendo en los huecos. Despues las uno a las anteriores que queden claramente por encima. Esto creará un contraste en volumen. Al final uso "White Spirit" un disolvente de oleos para suavizar el conjunto.

We add a new set of strips, place them in the gaps between the first strips triying to give volume to the beard. I start pressing with a brush to not deform the strips too much, these will get into the holes. We stick them so that they are clearly above. This will create a contrast in volume. At the end I use "White Spirit" , a solvent of oils, to soften the whole.

 

Ahora viene un buen rato de tocar y retocar las tiras, intentando dar la forma ondulada la pelo, no sé muy bien como explicarlo así que he tomado una serie de fotos que espero ilustren el tema. En resumen vamos jugando presionando en un lado, levantando por otro y suavizando de vez en cuando con el pincel. Probad y si no pues me preguntáis.

Now it comes a time to touch and retouch strips, trying to form the wavy hair, I don't quite know how to explain so I've taken a series of pictures that I hope illustrate the matter. Por último le he añadido el bigote siguiendo un proceso similar.
